Dog GPS

PAW, or Positioning Animals Worldwide, is releasing their product, Spotlight, next month that will help dog owners have a little piece of mind. The company is first of its kind, offering real-time tracking 24/7/365 with turn-by-turn directions, alerts to your cell phone or e-mail, a dedicated recovery team, and technology that can instantly notify owners of their dog’s whereabouts.
This is definitely something that dog moms, and dog dads need, however, the only thing that has me a little concerned is the size of the actual tracking device. It is supposedly extremely lightweight, but I can’t see placing something of that size on my 10lb. chihuahua’s neck. I’m sure that over time, like most technology, it will get smaller, but until then I doubt I’ll rush to pay the starting price of $250 and the unknown monthly fee.
If I did have a larger breed of dog, such as a lab or golden retriever, or had a dog that was insistant on roaming the neighborhood, I would DEFINATELY consider taking a closer look at what Spotlight has to offer. But until they develop a mini-size, I think I’ll have to pass.
